About us

Pasir Ris Secondary School Chinese Orchestra (PRSSCO) is committed to creating leaders with self-leadership and social awareness skills. As one of the premier school Chinese Orchestras in Singapore, we seek to develop our students into competent and credible musicians. Our resident Music Accreditation Programme seeks primarily to develop the talents of our Chinese Orchestra members by providing strong support for the enhancement and accreditation of musical skills.

Ever since the PRSSCO Niche Programme in Chinese Orchestra commenced in 2008, PRSSCO has delivered outstanding performance at the biennial Singapore Youth Festival, garnering 3 consecutive Gold with Honours awards from 2007 - 2011 and the Certificate of Distinction in 2013, 2015 and 2017. PRSSCO was also selected to be the inaugural Music Talent Development Centre for Chinese Orchestra from 2009 to 2014.

In PRSSCO, members learn to play an instrument and perform in one of the premier Chinese Orchestras in Singapore. Annual overnight bonding camps, games day, student-initiated section outings are all staples in the PRSSCO experience. Each year's activities culminate in the annual CO Day, where current members, alumni and parents come together to celebrate our achievements.

Every year, the Orchestra also have certain key events. In 2014, PRSSCO went for a musical exchange to Hong Kong in March and was part of the 5000-strong Our People, Our Music performance held at the Sports Hub in June. In 2015, the Orchestra performed at the Hua Yi Festival at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre and held successful performances at the PRSS 30th Anniversary Concert at the Esplanade Concert Hall. In 2016, there was a Charity Concert at Victoria Concert Hall.
